With this rail pass you can travel aboard the Tohoku Shinkansen, Akita Shinkansen, Yamagata Shinkansen, Joetsu Shinkansen and Hokuriku Shinkansen.
Unlimited travel throughout the JR EAST PASS (Tohoku area) including 5 Shinkansen Super Express Lines (also known as the Bullet Trains).
Anyone who possesses a passport issued by a country other than Japan. Note: Type of visa will not be checked.

5 consecutive days
From the date of purchase, the pass voucher must be exchanged in Japan within 3 months. On the date of exchange in Japan, the user will need to select a start date within 1 month from that date. The user then has 5 consecutive days to use their pass as of the start date.
Note: This pass has been changed from a flexible pass, any 5 consecutive days within the 14-day period from issuance, to a consecutive pass.
Unlimited rides within the pass area on ordinary car reserved seating on local (including rapid), express, and limited express (including Shinkansen) trains on all lines of the JR East (including BRT), Izu Kyuko, Tokyo Monorail, Aoimori Rail, Iwate Galaxy Railway, and Sendai Airport lines, in addition to ordinary car reserved seating on the Nikko, Spacia Nikko, Kinugawa, and Spacia Kinugawa limited express trains operated jointly by JR East and Tobu Railway. The pass can also be used on some JR East bus services.
Making Seat Reservations
Visit a JR Ticket Office (Midori-no-madoguchi) or Travel Service Center (View Plaza), located in most major JR East stations, and present your JR EAST PASS (Tohoku area) to reserve a seat.

How to Exchange your E-ticket
JR EAST PASS (Tohoku area) has to be collected at one of exchange offices in East Japan within 3 months from the travel date in the PNR. Passenger will need to have a valid paper or e-ticket, a valid passport with the entry status of “Temporary Visitor”. See the Exchange locations on the JR EAST Website.
